How to play
Morse code is a secret language made of short beeps (dots) and long beeps (dashes). Listen to the beeps, then copy them on the big button: a quick tap makes a dot, and holding it down makes a dash. Every step has its own sound, so you can even play with your eyes closed!
You get 8 letters. A gold star means you got it right first time. The big button and the letter card both work as the Morse key, so with your eyes closed just tap the middle of the screen.
For grown-ups: keys and sounds
The whole quiz works without looking. On a computer, the Space bar is the big button (hold it for a dash), R plays the letter again and H shows the answer. On a phone, the letter card and the big button together fill most of the screen, and both work as the key.
- Start: four notes going up.
- New question: two quick high pings, then the letter's beeps.
- Your button: a beep while you hold it. If it suddenly goes lower, you are making a dash.
- Right answer: a bright sparkly run of notes.
- Wrong answer: a soft "wah-wah" going down, then the letter is played again.
- Hear it again: a "da-dum". It also plays by itself if nobody taps for a while.
- Show me: a twinkle.
- Button pressed while the quiz is still beeping: a low knock, meaning "wait".
- End: a little fanfare, then one ding for every right answer, so you can count your score.
Easy letters are the eight shortest codes. All letters uses the whole alphabet. A star is gold if the letter was right without help and silver if it needed a second try or a peek.
